Foundation FAQs
The Enterprise Holdings Foundation was established by founder Jack C. Taylor to give back to the communities in which our partners and employees live and work. The Foundation provides charitable support to worthwhile, non-profit initiatives that are actively supported by Enterprise Holdings employees and their spouses/domestic partners. Contributions are made to thousands of local communities across the globe where the organization operates.
The Foundation’s philanthropic and community relations mission is to ensure that we maintain our leadership position as a valued and responsible corporate citizen by enhancing the quality of life in our communities consistent with the organization’s business goals and objectives. The Foundation provides grants to qualified tax-exempt 501(c)(3) public charities in the United States, registered charities in Canada, registered and exempt charities in the United Kingdom, charities on the DZI list in Germany and charities with a tax eligibility certificate in France and Spain. The Foundation supports relief projects or causes that Enterprise Holdings deems important as they arise, such as natural disasters that affect our employees and partners.
The Foundation considers the support of schools (other than higher education), athletic teams, and churches, synagogues or other houses of worship a personal responsibility, and therefore discourages requests for Foundation support of these types of organizations. In addition, the Foundation does not consider support for the following: individuals; employee/spouse/legal domestic partner-created charities; man-made disasters; terrorist organizations or groups that condone acts of violence; political and labor organizations; school organizations including clubs, parent teacher groups, social fraternities and sororities, and alumni associations; non-charitable or private organizations (according to IRS Codes); tuition; fees; memberships; memorial donations; virtual events; dues; event tickets; subscriptions; telethons; or beauty pageants.
Enterprise Holdings holds an annual Stronger Together Employee Giving campaign to facilitate donations from employees who wish to support organizations in their local communities. Employees are given the choice of supporting their local United Way chapter or a small number of employee-identified agencies representing a variety of causes. The Foundation provides a 50% match to employee contributions throughout communities in the United States and Canada. Similarly, the Foundation supports the "Give as You Earn" scheme in the United Kingdom.
