When we deepen Respect, we expand Opportunity.

When we expand opportunity, we enable Achievement.

And when we enable achievement, we unleash the power of Diversity in our neighborhoods and our workplaces.

In November 2020, the Enterprise Holdings Foundation announced the ROAD Forward program and pledged $55 million over five years to organizations that advance social and racial equity in the communities where the company operates.

As part of the initiative, the company is allocating $20 million across four nationally renowned nonprofit partners – The Obama Foundation’s My Brother’s Keeper AllianceUnited Negro College FundGirls Inc. and Parents as Teachers – as part of a commitment to young people of color in underserved communities.

In the video above, President/CEO Stephanie Hull shares about her organization’s mission and their effort to build a new generation of leaders.

Get to Know Girls Inc.

In partnership with schools and at Girls Inc. centers, the organization focuses on the development of the whole girl. She learns to value herself, take risks and discover and develop her inherent strengths. The combination of long-lasting mentoring relationships, a pro-girl environment and evidence-based programming equips girls to navigate gender, economic and social barriers. It also allows them to grow up healthy, educated and independent.

Girls Inc. has 78 affiliates serving girls at more than 1,400 program sites throughout the U.S. and Canada. Nearly 80 percent of the girls served identify as girls of color, and nearly 60 percent come from households earning less than $30,000 per year.

Girls Inc. programming has been proven effective: a two-year study conducted by The American Institutes for Research showed that Girls Inc. participants had significant advantages over their peers in 20 impact areas.

ROAD Forward has provided Girls Inc. with an incredible opportunity to advance two critical areas of their efforts: supporting racial and gender equity. By sharpening their work to support social and emotional learning, Girls Inc. will ensure the girls they serve develop skills needed to thrive in school and in the world. Girls Inc. will continue to build an organization reflective of the girls they serve and the values they hold to create an equitable society.
