Alamo Franchisee Honored as First Socially Responsible Car Rental Company in Mexico

Recognized for Making Operations Economically, Socially and Environmentally Sustainable

ST. LOUIS (July 1, 2015) – Enterprise Holdings announced today that its Alamo franchise in Mexico has been recognized as a Socially Responsible Company by the Mexican Center for Philanthropy AC (CEMEFI) and the Alliance for Corporate Social Responsibility (AliaRSE).

Alamo Mexico is the first car rental company in Mexico to be named a Socially Responsible Company (Empresa Socialmente Responsable, ESR). The recognition is given to companies that strive to make their operations economically, socially and environmentally sustainable. Alamo Mexico demonstrates these qualities by improving the lives of their employees, running an ethical business and through its community involvement.

“Corporate social responsibility is more than just a valuable business strategy,” said Juan Jose Arellano Hernandez, Partner at Alamo Mexico. “It is actually part of our organization’s core values.”

The nomination process highlighted Alamo’s sustainability efforts, which included developing and executing internal initiatives to educate employees on how to maximize energy efficiency in day-to-day business transactions, as well as by sponsoring scholarships for employees to continue their education. “We dedicate this recognition to our employees, who embody these socially responsible values each and every day,” noted Arellano Hernandez.

The award also recognized Alamo Mexico for its commitment to improving the community. When Hurricane Odile slammed Mexico’s Baja Peninsula, employees across Alamo’s local branches came together to provide disaster relief.  In addition, Alamo employees assisted their community by planting trees, adopting a community garden, promoting the health of marine ecosystems by cleaning beaches and supporting the care and preservation of Olive Ridley turtles in partnership with the Mazatlán Aquarium.

The Alamo Mexico branches that received this award include: Aguascalientes, Aguascalientes; Cancun, Playa del Carmen, Cozumel, Quintana Roo; Guadalajara, Jalisco; Leon, Guanajuato; Merida, Yucatan; Mexico City; Monterrey, Nuevo Leon; Oaxaca, Oaxaca; Toluca, Estado de Mexico; and the corporate office in Mazatlán.
