New York, NY USA (Dec. 10, 2014) – The BTN Group inducted five members to the Business Travel Hall of Fame during its fourth annual event held at The St. Regis New York on December 8. This year’s inductees include Marilyn Carlson Nelson, Max Hopper, Andrew W. Menkes, Jean-Cyril Spinetta and Andy Taylor. The inductees joined 19 members inducted since the Hall of Fame’s inception in 2010.

The lateMax Hopperserved as the chief information officer of Bank America, the senior vice president of information systems of American Airlines and the chairman of the Sabre Group. An industry pioneer, Max used information technology to improve airlines operationally and to bring computers to the desktops of travel agencies. In 1981, Max launched the industry’s first frequent-flyer program: AAdvantage, which automatically tracked the mileage of its members. He developed systems integration with the InterAAct desktop network at American Airlines.
Andrew W. Menkes, founder of Partnership Travel Consulting, began his 30-year industry career with TWA and nine years later, founded and served as CEO for the New York-based travel agency Priority Travel. Andy is the first travel manager to secure ARC accreditation as a Corporate Travel Department. As Republic New York Corp.’s first vice president of global travel management, he pioneered an Internet-based corporate-direct electronic ticket purchase with British Airways and with JetBlue.
Marilyn Carlson Nelson, former Carlson chairman and chief executive officer, led Carlson to become the first North American travel company to take a stand against the sexual exploitation of children in the travel industry and sign the international Code of Conduct to end child prostitution, child pornography and the trafficking of children for sexual purposes. In 2014, Marilyn was chosen by a committee of Nobel Prize recipients to receive the “Oslo Business for Peace Award.” In 2006, she was inducted to the French Légion d’Honneur. Marilyn serves on the boards of the United Nations Global Compact, The Committee Encouraging Corporate Philanthropy, The National Endowment for Democracy and the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts.
Jean-Cyril Spinetta, former chairman and chief executive officer of Air France KLM, led the 2004 merger of Air France and KLM. He chaired the supervisory board of Areva from April 2009 to June 2013 and acts as the honorary chairman of the Air France KLM board of directors. Throughout his industry career, he served as head of the investments, planning and research department of the French Ministry of Education, auditor to the Council of State, general secretariat of the government, chief of staff to Michel Delebarre, chairman and CEO of Air Inter and advisor to the President of the Republic for industrial matters.
Andy Taylor is executive chairman of Enterprise Holdings. The only investment-grade company in the U.S. car rental industry, Enterprise Holdings operates Alamo Rent A Car and National Car Rental as well as its flagship Enterprise Rent-A-Car brand. Andy became chief executive officer in 1991, chairman in 2001 and executive chairman in 2013. In 2009, Andy was inducted into the U.S. Travel Hall of Leaders for his leadership role in challenging excise taxes that single out rental car customers to fund unrelated projects and programs in local communities.
Through the Business Travel Hall of Fame Scholarship Fund, established in 2011 to support the next generation of business travel leaders, The BTN Group and United Airlines also awarded scholarships to two students pursuing degrees at the New York University Preston Robert Tisch Center for Hospitality and Tourism.
