Enterprise Holdings Honored as Freedom Award Nominee

ST. LOUIS – July 23, 2012 – Enterprise Holdings, which owns and operates the Enterprise Rent-A-Car, National Car Rental and Alamo Rent A Car brands, was honored as an Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) Freedom Award Nominee during a ceremony today at its St. Louis headquarters. The company received the honor for its outstanding support of employees serving in the military.

“We have immense gratitude and respect for our military heroes, and our commitment to hire and support military men and women is deeply ingrained in our company culture,” said Andy Taylor, chairman and CEO, Enterprise Holdings, who accepted the honor on behalf of the company. “This year alone we will add more than 1,500 military veterans and reservists to our workforce.”

Jaime “Jim” Castillo Liceaga, Air National Guard member and human resources information systems supervisor at Enterprise Holdings, nominated Enterprise for the award. Castillo Liceaga joined Enterprise in 2000 and has served in the Air National Guard for 10 years as a Boom Operator in Aerial Refueling.

“I wanted Enterprise to receive this recognition because the company is true to its values and takes care of its employees,” said Castillo Liceaga, who also noted that the company sustains benefits for military members and their families while employees are away on active duty.

In 2011, Enterprise hired 1,400 veterans and reservists, and 5,300 of its approximately 55,000 employees in the United States are U.S. military veterans and active/inactive reservists. The company pays the salary differential for employees on active duty so they continue to receive full pay throughout the duration of their service. Enterprise is also a member of the JP Morgan Chase 100,000 Jobs Mission and of the White House Joining Forces Travel Industry Coalition.

“The long-standing relationship between Enterprise and the U.S. military stems from the dedication of our founder and my father, Jack Taylor, a World War II Navy veteran and decorated pilot,” stated Taylor. “The skills and training he learned in the military shaped him into the dynamic leader who built this company, and in turn, have helped turn the company into what it is today.”

In 2005, Enterprise Rent-A-Car received 5-Star recognition in ESGR’s Statement of Support Program, and was recognized at a ceremony in Washington, D.C. with the Secretary of Defense Employer Support Freedom Award, the highest honor given by the U.S. government to employers for support of their service in the National Guard and Reserve.

ESGR is a Department of Defense organization and was established in 1972 to promote cooperation and understanding between Reserve component members and their civilian employers and to assist in the resolution of conflicts arising from an employee's military commitment. More information about ESGR outreach programs is available at www.esgr.org.
