"As the world's largest car rental company and a leader in the global travel industry, we are in a strong position to help drive sustainable transportation solutions and policies around the globe."
Pam Nicholson, President and Chief Executive Officer – Enterprise Holdings, FY2015 Corporate Sustainability Report
Steady management at the top, combined with financial stability and a consistent ability to exceed our customers' expectations, has fueled six decades of profitable growth and defined Enterprise Holdings Inc.’s global leadership role in the car rental and travel industries.
We know leadership is not a short-term proposition. We manage our business with long-term corporate social responsibility and sustainability in mind – as demonstrated by our continuous work to balance the interests of as many key stakeholders as possible, including customers, employees and the parts of the world we touch with our global operations.
That leadership begins with our company's owners, the Taylor family of St. Louis. Since our founding in 1957, Enterprise has had only three CEOs – our founder Jack, his son, Andy, and 34-year company veteran, Pamela Nicholson. Pamela has been named one of Fortune magazine's Most Powerful Women in Business for the past eleven years.
The third generation of the family also is involved in managing the company and is an important part of our lasting success.

Enterprise Holdings’ global network operates in more than 90 countries and territories, including North America, Central America, South America, the Caribbean and Europe, as well as parts of Asia-Pacific and the Middle East. As the world’s largest car rental provider, Enterprise Holdings operates – through its independent regional subsidiaries and franchise partners – more than 9,900 fully staffed neighborhood and airport locations. This network also offers strategic and sustainable mobility options, as hourly, daily and weekly car rentals continue to expand as cost-effective and consumer-friendly modes of transportation.
In addition, we believe local and global supply chain management is critical to achieving our vision of excellent customer service. As a result, Enterprise Holdings and its subsidiaries rely on a broad network of suppliers and business partners to help us keep our business strong and successful for the long term.
Enterprise Holdings’ heritage is unique: We pioneered and developed significant market demand for convenient, affordable car rentals away from the airport – right in the neighborhoods where customers live and work. That market segment then evolved into an insurance replacement business for consumers whose vehicles were in need of repair and, under the Enterprise Rent-A-Car brand, grew into a robust neighborhood business that currently rivals the airport market.
The addition of the Alamo Rent A Car and National Car Rental brands in 2007, as part of one of the largest acquisitions in car rental industry history, enabled us to begin offering a diverse three-brand portfolio at the airport to serve leisure and business travelers. Enterprise Holdings’ diverse network now offers a total transportation solution that includes extensive car rental services, as well as car sharing, truck rental, corporate fleet management and retail car sales.
